An IPA twinning project called "Support to HAKOM in the area of accounting separation of postal services" was formally closed on Monday at a ceremony in Zagreb, paving the way for the full liberalisation of the postal market in line with postal directives of the European Union.

The EUR 191,600 project of support to the Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency (HAKOM) was launched on 7 November 2011, and 90 percent of the funds were ensured from the EU's IPA 2009 programme and the remainder was covered by the national sources.

HAKOM's partner in the implementation of the project was the Spanish transport ministry's directorate-general for postal services.
