Croatian Transport Minister Oleg Butkovic presented in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on Friday the reintroduction of Croatia Airlines (CA) flights between Mostar and Zagreb as of May, saying this was another confirmation of Croatia's desire "to develop good neighbourly relations" with BiH.

Speaking as Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic's envoy, Butkovic said the reintroduction of flights would help the development of Mostar "given its potential".

"All our airports recorded significant growths last year and this service is going in that direction," he said, adding that the flights would stimulate the economy, notably tourism.

Butkovic said he was sure the completion of the transport corridor Vc would boost the economies of both Croatia and BiH as its construction was in the interest of both.

After 12 years, the first plane between Mostar and Zagreb will fly on May 3. CA will fly between the two destinations twice a week, from Zagreb to Mostar on Thursdays and Sundays, and from Mostar to Zagreb on Fridays and Mondays.

Mostar mayor Ljubo Beslic said the flights were important as they would connect Mostar with Zagreb and then the rest of the world.

Zagreb mayor Milan Bandic said he was pleased with the reintroduction of flights and announced an investment in an elevated railway to connect Zagreb's airport and the city centre.

CA Board chairman Jasmin Bajic said Zagreb-Mostar airfare would cost 89 euros and flights would operate all year round.
