An international conference on an impending EU regulation on airports is to be held in Porec on 15 and 16 October. The regulation is in its final stage of preparation by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The conference is being organised by the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency (CCAA) together with EASA to discuss new conditions required of national aviation authorities and operators that should facilitate greater supervision, management and security at European airports.

Around 100 participants are expected from EASA, the Airports Council International (ACI) and other airport authorities and operators from neighbouring countries.

Until now there has not been a common regulation for airport activities and each EU country independently determined its national regulations which led to discrepancies between regulations. The new EU regulation should standardise national regulations in EU member countries.

In 2012 Croatia adopted new rules on airports which do not differ substantially from the new EU regulation.
