Croatian airports report more passengers, less cargo in H1

A total of 2.2 million passengers passed through Croatia's airports in the first half of 2012, which was a rise by 5.1 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2011, the Central Bureau of Statistics has reported.

The volume of transported cargo went down by 2.2 percent to 3.7 thousand tonnes.

In June alone, 770,000 passenger were transported through the airports, 12.6 percent up from June 2011.

Cargo transported through those ports rose by 10.7 percent to 683 tonnes.

The airport of Zagreb saw 236,316 passengers, a rise by 6.8 percent from June 2011.

The airport of Split followed by 203,195 passengers, an increase of 19.9 percent, and the airport of Dubrovnik registered 203,134 passengers, a 13.4 percent rise.

The largest number of international passengers came from Germany. They were followed by passengers coming from the United Kingdom, France, Russia and Austria.
