A contract on the allocation of nonrepayable funds in the amount of 40.5 million kuna for the project "Dubrovnik Airport Development" was signed on Wednesday by Croatian Transport and Infrastructure Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic and airport director Roko Tolic.

The funds will be used to prepare technical documentation for the project worth EUR 244.5 million.

The ministry recalls that the "Dubrovnik Airport Development" project was positively assessed by the European Commission earlier this year.

85% of the sum necessary for preparing the technical documentation, or 34.4 million kuna, will be ensured from EU funds, and the remaining 15% will be provided by Croatia.

The procedure of applying with the project for EU financing is under way.

Nearly two-thirds of all visitors to Dubrovnik, Croatia's southernmost coastal city, arrive by air via Dubrovnik Airport.
