Govt. to grant HRK 76.7M for preparing transport project documentation

The Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Ministry and several companies on Friday signed 21 contracts on co-financing the drawing up of documentation for road, sea, air and regional transport projects from European Union funds.

The grant for the contracts totals HRK 76.7 million and will finance feasibility studies for ring - roads, ferry terminals, better connections between the islands and the mainland, and traffic signals.

Contracts were signed for 12 projects in road traffic, seven in maritime and two in air traffic.

Project documentation is the first step and a requirement to apply for co - financing from EU funds, Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic said, adding that the goal was to improve project preparation and ensure a strategic project base for transport development in the 2014-20 period, when Croatia has EUR 1.8 billion at its disposal in EU funds.
