The city-run Promet bus transport company in Split has procured 34 new buses valued at HRK 93.7 million, 85% of which was financed from EU funds and 15% from the state budget.

"All these buses will be put in operation in the next ten days and as their maintenance costs will be cheaper that means that the cost of city bus lines will be cheaper too. These buses will also contribute to relieving traffic congestion in Split," Promet's CEO Miroslav Delic said.

He stressed that the new buses are exceptionally important for the city because the 68 buses operating in the city, cross almost 10 million kilometres a year and transport more than 30 million passengers.

State secretary in the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Josip Bilaver added that the new buses will surely improve the quality of public transport in the city.
