Tender for preliminary study for connecting Croatia's south to be put out by year's end
A tender for a preliminary feasibility study to find the best way of connecting Croatia's south with the rest of the country will be advertised before the end of this year and the study should be completed by the end of May, the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Sinisa Hajdas Doncic, announced in Brussels on Thursday.
Hajdas Doncic was in Brussels to attend a meeting of the EU Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council as an observer. He told the press that his ministry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, had prepared project assignments for the tender.
"I hope the tender will be put out by the end of this year. The preliminary feasibility study should be completed by the end of May next year," the minister said.
The preliminary study will be co-financed by the European Commission with EUR 200,000. The study should determine the best way to connect Croatia's south with the rest of the country, since it is cut off at Neum where Bosnia and Herzegovina has access to the Adriatic Sea.
All options are to be taken into account, building a bridge between the mainland and the Peljesac peninsula, a corridor through Neum and a ferry service.
