Minister Kalmeta Visited the Motorway Construction Site Dugopolje-Šestanovac

The Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development Božidar Kalmeta visited today the construction site of the motorway segment A1 Dugopolje-Bisko-Šestanovac as well as the site of the connecting road Bisko-Čaporice. He expressed his satisfaction regarding both sites, considering that all construction activities were being performed in time.

Both segments, 37 km long, will be finalized by June 2007, as well as the connecting road including the bridge passing over the Cetina River, where Kalmeta stopped in order to preserve the situation more closely. The value of the connecting road mounts up to HRK 40 million and the value of the bridge over the Cetina River up to HRK 60 million, confirmed official sources, adding that the bridge would be 240 meters long.

On his way back, the Minister also visited the girder bridge Cetina. He added that this was one of the most demanding objects along the passage and he also explained that they were all very concerned about the environmental protection measures considering that all construction activities were being performed so close to the Cetina canyon.

The left tube of the tunnel „Crno brdo“(361.8 meters) was opened on 11 May and the opening of the right tube is expected to occur towards the end of this month. The total value of the tunnel mounts up to HRK 44 million.

Other announcements made by the Minister referred to the upcoming construction activities on the highway segment Trogir-Omiš, The growing traffic intensity on Croatian motorways and the number of the sold smart cards. Talking about the change of the motorway section near Vrgorac, he underlined that this modification was based on finding a cheaper solution according to professionals and that the new direction would allow an undisturbed development of the port Ploče.
