Minister Kalmeta visited construction site of future Pelješac Bridge
Božidar Kalmeta, Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure visited today the construction site of the future Pelješac Bridge.
On that occasion he underlined once more that he was satisfied with the ongoing construction activities, announcing that the building of the fundaments for both sides of the bridge would start in autumn.
He further explained that the expected period for the completion of all construction activities was approximately four years and that the agreed value of the project amounted up to HRK 1.94 billion (VAT excl.)
This four lane bridge will be 2404 meters long and 21 meters wide with a maximum height of 55 meters. What makes the bridge so important is the fact that it will connect the Dubrovnik-Neretva County with the rest of the Croatian territory. A significant part of the whole project is also a planned fast road across the Pelješac Island.
Also present was the Parliament Speaker Luka Bebić who confirmed how statements regarding a possible stoppage of the construction activities were mere speculations since the Republic of Croatia was building the bridge on its own territory respecting completely the right of passage for even the largest ships on their voyage towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.
