The general manager of the company 'Bina-Istra' David Gabelica announced for the upcoming year construction activities regarding the building of additional lanes along the routes Umag-Pula and Kanfanar – Rogovići in the total length of 95 km.

He added that the daily traffic registered along those routes, which form parts of the Istrian 'Y', reached the number of 10 thousand vehicles, which is the necessary precondition for the construction of dual carriageways in both directions.

The construction activities are planned to last 2-3 years, i.e. if the activities should start in 2007. the additional routes are expected be finalized by 2010.
Besides the mentioned construction activities, Gabelica also talked about the preparing of the necessary documentation for the third route from Rogovići to tunnel Učka. He concluded that by the solving the problem of the Istrian ‘Y’, the problem of charging would also be solved, since the concessionaires are planning to introduce a closed charging system similar to other Croatian motorways.

For the beginning of October he announced the opening of the Istrian 'Y' route from Vodnjan to Pula in the length of 13 km.

Gabelica also pointed out the possibility for the current route to be prolonged for another 8 km, i.e. by reaching the tourist zone Medulin and Premantura the entrance to the city of Pula would be disburdened.
