A bridge linking the southeast part of Zagreb and Zagreb airport was opened on Saturday.

The Homeland Bridge, built across the River Sava, is 880 metres long and 34 metres wide. The EUR 40 million investment is part of an infrastructure project to build a central facility for the purification of the city's waste water.

The Homeland Bridge includes a pipe carrying waste water to the central purification plant.

The bridge was inaugurated by Mayor Milan Bandic and Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction Minister Marina Matulovic Dropulic.
