Croatia is a hit tourist destination with all the prerequisites to keep this status and create a new permanent brand also in yachting tourism, the state secretary for the sea, Branko Bačić, told a yachting fair in Split on Monday where a national yachting tourism development study was presented.

Bačić said that following the introduction of new measures in yachting tourism aimed at preventing illegal charters, stepping up ecology protection standards in the Adriatic and navigation safety, the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development last year began drafting a yachting tourism development study which would provide the foundation for an integral strategy of sustainable yachting tourism development in Croatia. Bačić said the Government would also take a position on the study.

He underlined that close attention would be paid to seeing to it that new berths be built only in existing harbors and to providing special harbors for mega yachts and the jet set, which he said were increasingly present in Croatia.
