The Croatian Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, ZLATKO KOMADINA, and his associates met with the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Anton Rop, on Friday to discuss projects financially supported with EIB loans.
The projects include construction of a new port in Zadar, the ring-road around Split, road reconstruction, and construction of a motorway along pan-European transport corridor Vc.
Also discussed were possibilities of financing the modernisation of Croatian Rail's rolling stock and infrastructure, according to a statement from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure.
Considering Croatia's forthcoming accession to the European Union and the possibility of its using EU structural and cohesion funds, the EIB representatives confirmed the possibility of the EIB co-funding such projects.
Komadina said that the plan for investment in rail infrastructure mainly concerned the railways along Corridor X (Dobova-Zagreb-Tovarnik) and Corridor Vb (Botovo-Zagreb-Rijeka), and that it also provided for the purchase of new locomotives, carriages and trains.
