The workshop called "Preparation, application and implementation of infrastructure projects co-financed by the EU" was held in Opatija from 17-19 February 2010, and it was organized by the Community Port Authorities of Internal Water, which combines the interests of port authorities Sisak, Slavonski Brod, Osijek and Vukovar.
At the workshop were representatives of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Ditrectorate of the Inland Navigation and the Directorate for the Strategic Infrastructure Facilities, representatives of the port authorities and the representatives of the Central Agency for Financing and Contracting (SAFU).
In the introductory part, the Chief at the Strategic Infrastructure Facilities Directorate Drazen Antolovic pointed out the importance of the transport infrastructure in all Croatian traffic sectors, stressing out the importance of the investments in the traffic sector as a precondition for sustainable development and the need for long-term planning and coordination of transport policy objectives, with the existing economic and social development trends.
Continuation of workshops related to the introduction and explanation of the present with new sources of funding - EU funds, and future structural instruments whose use is expected of Croatia's EU accession. At the same time, presented the structure of existing pre-accession EU funds, with special reference to the IPA and ISPA funds from which is possible to finance the infrastructure projects.
In the final discussion the participants stressed the problems of preparation for projects co-financed by EU funds, and their experiences in obtaining and using funds from the EU funds, the consultants presented the MM Center in the practical part of the workshop.
