HZ: Causes of train accident to be known only after investigation

A Croatian Rail (HZ) commission and the police on Saturday morning continued a joint investigation into the derailment of a tilting train that occurred at Kastela near the southern coastal city of Split on Friday, the HZ company said in a statement.

The company said it would not comment on speculations about the possible causes of the accident until the completion of the investigation, stressing that the results of the investigation would be the only relevant document.

A member of the HZ managing board, Predrag Zekic, and his associates visited the Firule Hospital in Split where they wished the people injured in the accident a speedy recovery and offered them HZ's assistance.

HZ offered its condolences to the families of six people killed in the accident.
