British low-tariff airline EasyJet will soon introduce flight services between Zagreb and London and between Zagreb and Paris, and tickets can be booked already now.
Flights for Paris will start as of 1 November this year. There will be four flights a week to the French capital. EasyJet expects 55,000 passengers on this line annually.
Five weekly flights for London will be introduced as of 11 February 2011. It is expected that 65,000 passengers will use this service between Zagreb and London Gatwick annually.
EasyJet has been present on the Croatian market for four years, operating flights from Dubrovnik and Split to eight and ten destinations respectively.
The company's marketing director for Switzerland, Austria and East Europe, Peter Voels, told a news conference in Zagreb on Thursday that Croatia had good potential for low-tariff carriers, with low-tariff flights accounting now for a mere 15 percent of the flights in Croatia.
Tourism Ministry State Secretary Zeljko Lenart said Croatia was expecting 580,000 tourists to arrive by air this year as against 360,000 last year.
In 2009, the ministry allocated EUR 4.7 million in subsidies for airlines bringing tourists in Croatia. This year, subsidies can go up to EUR 7.8 million. The grant is EUR 20 per passenger.
