Time spent on mobile phone calls on rise, number of SMS messages on fall

Croatians spent 5.9 percent more minutes in mobile phoning in the first nine months of 2009, as compared to the same period in 2008, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported on Monday.

On the other hand, fixed-line call volume declined by 7.6 percent.

In the first nine months of 2009, Croatians spent 4.49 billion minutes on mobile phoning.

The time registered in fixed-line networks is 3.83 billion minutes.

Sending SMS and MMS messages saw a decrease for the first time in the several last years, and it went down by 6.1 percent in the first nine months of 2009 on the year.

In the said period, 2.7 billion text messages were sent.
