The national rail company Hrvatske Zeljeznice (HZ) said in a statement on Sunday evening that the section of the railway line Zagreb-Split at Perkovic was opened to traffic for cargo trains after nine days, and that it would be opened for passenger transport at 6 am Monday.
The company said that members of its management board would travel to Split aboard the first morning train at 6.50 am, thus inviting passengers to continue travelling by train as the safest means of transport.
The Zagreb-Split railway line was closed to traffic on July 24 due to a train derailment at Rudine near Split, when a tilting train skidded off the tracks, leaving six people killed and 55 injured.
