Croatian PM meets Montenegrin president


Podgorica, June 22 2009Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Monday met Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic during a day-long official visit to Podgorica, the office of the Montenegrin president stated.

Vujanovic expressed confidence that Croatia would join the European Union very soon and help Montenegro become part of the EU as soon as possible.

He congratulated Sanader on Croatia"s NATO membership, describing it as a major achievement and an opportunity for Montenegro to follow Croatia"s example and step up its efforts to join Euro-Atlantic associations.

PM Sanader reiterated that Croatia was willing to share its experience on the road to Euro-Atlantic associations, thus facilitating Montenegro"s integration with those associations.

Sanader also underlined the importance of the Croatian company "Konstruktor" having won a contract to build a highway in Montenegro, adding that it would contribute to the economic Podgorica, June 22 2009cooperation between the two countries.

The Croatian PM, who earlier in the day held talks with his Montenegrin counterpart Milo Djukanovic, was also expected to meet Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic and representatives of the Croat community in Montenegro.
