45 pct of households in Croatia have Internet access

A total of 60 percent of households in the EU 27 had Internet access in the first three months of this year, while in Croatia 45 percent of the population had access to the Internet, said the European Commission, adding that 48 percent of people in the EU27 and 27 percent in Croatia had a broadband connection.

"In the EU 27, 60 percent of households had access to the Internet during the first quarter of 2008, compared with 54 percent during the first quarter of 2007," said Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities.

These figures represent only a small part of the results of a survey on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) usage in households and by individuals in the EU 27 member states, Norway, Iceland and Croatia.

Household Internet access ranges from 25 percent in Bulgaria to 86 percent in the Netherlands.
