Number of transported passengers in Croatia goes up

In the first half of 2008, 72.26 million passengers were transported in Croatia, 6.1 percent up from the first half of 2007, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported recently.

The volume in rail passenger transport increased 14.3 percent in the said period. In the first half of this year, 35.58 million passengers were transported by train.

Road passenger transport dipped 1.8 percent to 30.9 million passengers. Passenger transport by sea increased 4.1 percent to 4.74 million, while transport by air went up 7.1 percent to 1.02 million passengers.

Rail transport made up 49 percent of all models of passenger transport.
Road transport accounted for 43 percent, while transport by sea and by air made up seven and one percent respectively.

In the first half of this year, 80.82 million of goods were transported in Croatia.
