Minister Kalmeta declared railroad stop Harmica for open

On 15 June the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Božidar Kalmeta declared the railroad stop Harmica along the railroad route Sutla-Harmica (part of Savski Marof – Kumrovec) open for traffic.

The minister pointed out that the restoration of the tracks and the construction of a new stop, in the value of HRK 6 million, belongs to the most important investments.

This project is already included in the long-term plans of the country’s railroad traffic development, said Kalmeta, adding that this kind of transport stands for cost-effectiveness, practicality and environment protection.

Almost two years ago, activities were launched regarding the reconstruction of the railroad tracks Savski Marof – Kumrovec along the route Savski Marof – Vukovo Selo, as well as the drafting of a revitalization project for the entire railroad tracks to Kumrovec. The mentioned project will result with the electrification of the tracks from Savski Marof to Vukovo Selo which will be included into the urban-suburban transport system of the city of Zagreb and the surrounding areas. The local transport along the route Vukovo Selo – Kumrovec will be performed with help of diesel engine trains.

From now on, passengers from the north-western part of the Zagreb County will travel directly to the Harmica stop and the voyage from the Harmica stop to the Zagreb Railway Station will take only 37 minutes.

The ceremony was also attended by Davorin Kobak, President of the HŽ- Holding Management Bord, Marijan Klarić, Managing Director of HŽ Passenger Transport and representatives of the local government.
