The Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development, Božidar Kalmeta, on Monday opened a 32 kilometer long reconstructed section of the main coastal road between Karlobag and Sveta Marija Magdalena.
The national road construction and maintenance company Hrvatske Ceste invested HRK 65 million (nearly EUR 9 million) in the project.
“For decades tourists mostly used this road to enter Croatia, a road which represented the only link between the northern and southern part of our country during the Homeland War”, the Minister stated. According to him the reconstruction of this road is very important since it will attract the return of many passengers, reviving a part of the coast which was a bit isolated during the last few years.
