The Croatian tennis player Mario Ančić is this year's 1 millionth passenger registered at the Split Airport. Ančić who was about to board his Croatia Airlines flight to Frankfurt, along with another 95 passengers, was quite surprised when the airport staff informed him about his good luck.
The manager of the Split Airport, Lukša Novak presented Ančić with a voucher in the value of HRK 2000 to be spent in the airport’s Duty Free shop and the representative of Croatia Airlines Toni Koceijić presented him with two return tickets for international flights of his choice.
Mario Ančić stated that he was very glad this sign of good fortune had happened to him before the tournament in Madrid, which was the final destination of his journey.
Novak added that this was a very important day for the Split Airport because it managed to reach the number of 1 million passengers for the first time since Croatia’s independence.
Based on high figures and good results the Split Airport hopes to close the year 2006 with an 18% increase in the arrival of passengers.
