Britain Lowers Taxes in Air Traffic with Croatia

The British government has announced that Croatia has been included in a list of countries with lower air fare taxes because of its status of an EU candidate country, the British Embassy in Zagreb said in a statement last Friday.

British Finance Secretary Gordon Brown has announced changes in the budget introduced in parliament last week. The changes will take effect on November 1, 2006.

The decision will cause a decrease in prices of air transport and hopefully increase the number of visits between Great Britain and
Croatia, said the British Ambassador to Croatia, Sir John Ramsden.

Air fare taxes will thus drop from 20 to 5 pounds sterling for economy class flights and from 40 to 10 pounds sterling for first class and club card flights.  (Hina)
