An international seminar on the modernization of Croatian Railways (HŽ) was held in the northern Adriatic resort of Opatija on Thursday.
HŽ Board president Davorin Kobak said at the seminar that 50 percent of the process of reorganizing the Croatian Railways had been completed, adding that as of 1 July HŽ will be operating as a holding company consisting of four enterprises.
The seminar, called "Modernization and Harmonization of HŽ Ahead of Croatia's Accession to the EU", pooled some 150 experts from HŽ, as well as from the domestic and foreign railway industries, universities and foreign railway companies.
The meeting focused on strategic guidelines for HZ development, infrastructure development, city and commuter transportation, the condition of trains and intermodal transportation. (Hina)
