The Croatian Highways company has started works to widen and upgrade the 15-kilometre state road D1 running from Solin to Dugopolje that connects to the Split-Zagreb highway.
The project is estimated at 400 million kuna and is part of a project to build a parallel network of roads connecting to the highway, the company's head engineer, Mislav Vučković, has said.
Construction works to upgrade the road to a four-lane dual carriageway will be carried out in two stages. The first stage is expected to be completed by the start of this year's tourist season, and the other by year's end. (Hina)
