Today, Croatian Motorways Ltd (Hrvatske autoceste – HAC) called up all motorway users who posses a disability certificate and therefore have the right to use the motorways free of charge, to renew their old certificates by 15 January 2006.
All old certificates, starting with May 2005, were consolidated into one unified disability certificate issued by the HAC.
The owner of the certificate gains the right to use, without paying, all motorways and objects with toll collection, in Croatia. This includes all objects, no matter who is the concessionaire of the given motorway – HAC, ARZ (Motorway Rijeka – Zagreb), Bina Istra (Istrian ‘Y’) or AZM (Motorway Zagreb – Macelj).
A total of 18 000 certificates were active about 2.5 years ago and now the HAC estimates that there might be 15 000 certificates still valid. Until the present days, 12 500 certificates were issued.
The old disability certificates can be renewed at the HAC location in Jadranska Avenue 6, Zagreb – Lučko. It is necessary to present the driver's license, ID and an official document affirming the person’s disability. (Hina)
