The Croatian government last year invested HRK 1.68 billion in the development of the Adriatic islands, of which HRK 1.33 billion in non-repayable funds and HRK 344 million in loans, the State Secretary for Maritime Affairs, Branko Bacic, said at a press conference on the northern island of Pag after a meeting of the Islands Council.
The Council adopted a report on the effects of the Islands Act of 2008, which showed the government's care for the islands.
"The implementation of the Act has already resulted in substantial headway in the overall development of the islands," the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure said in a statement, recalling that readers of the Spanish edition of Condé Nast Traveler magazine proclaimed the Croatian Adriatic islands the most beautiful in the world.
