Two fishing vessels launched as part of government programme to renew national fleet

The Kraljevica shipyard on Saturday launched two fishing vessels for domestic clients, built as part of a government programme to renew the Croatian fishing fleet.

The two vessels are identical, measuring 23.9 metres in length and 7.2 metres in width. Their maximum speed is nine knots and, considering their capacity, they will be able to compete with Italian and other foreign fishermen on the high seas, the launch ceremony heard.

The cost of each vessel is about EUR 1.4 million.

Under the government programme to renew the national fishing fleet, 10 per cent of construction costs are covered by ship owner, 30 per cent is covered by subsidies while the remaining 60 per cent is covered by a loan from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
