In June and during first six month less tourists visiting nautical ports

By comparing the first six months in 2004 with the same period in 2005, we see that in 2005 the Croatian nautical ports registered 2% less tourists and 1% less overnight – stays.
This loss is the result of the decreased number of foreign tourists, although the number of domestic tourists has increased.

Approximately 213 700 foreign tourists (minus by 3%) and 12 000 domestic tourists (plus by 17%) visited the nautical ports from January to June this year.

Looking at six Adriatic counties, we see that in three of them the nautical ports achieved better results than last year (Šibenik – Knin, Zadar, Split-Dalmatia). Two counties registered losses (Istaria, Primorje – Gorski kotar), while one (Dubrovnik) remained at the same level.

The ports in the County of Šibenik – Knin achieved the best results. Thanks to a huge interest of tourists, these nautical ports were able to show a 7% increase in the number of tourists (76 400).
The ports in the County of Zadar were also very successful with their increase of overnight – stays by 21%.
The ports of the County of Split – Dalmatia were able to improve their number of tourists by 4%, keeping the number of overnight – stays at the same level as last year (48 600).
In the ports of the County of Istria the numbers went down, 20% less tourists and 7 % less overnight – stays.
A similar trend was noticeable in the ports of the County of Primorje – Gorski kotar.

Considering last year’s numbers, we see that a negative trend was also present during June this year. Nautical ports registered a decrease of arrivals by 5 % and a decrease of overnight – stays by 4%.
