The European Commission has approved the financial assistance for the modernisation of the Zapresic-Zabok railway in the northwest of Croatia, and the acceptable cost to be covered by the EU funds stands at EUR 80.8 million.
The upgrade of the 24-kilometre-long rail line includes electrification and construction and reconstruction of facilities including bridges, crossings, flyovers and train stations.
The project should be completed by 2020, according to a press release issued by Croatia's transport and infrastructure ministry.
The financial support from the EU is ensured under the scheme Connectivity and Mobility of the 2014-2020 Competitiveness and Cohesion programme.
