Eight bids have been submitted to the Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure for construction work on a bridge to connect the island of Ciovo and the mainland.
The value of the bids ranges from HRK 155.4 to 283.1 million including VAT, and they were opened at the Croatian Roads (HC) company today.
The bids were submitted by Croatian companies, companies from other EU countries and from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
HC officials expect the future bridge, to be built east of the historic centre of the coastal town of Trogir, to facilitate traffic in the direction of Split Airport and nearby highways as well as deal with traffic jams on the existing bridge connecting Ciovo with the mainland, which have been jeopardising Trogir's protected historic centre.
The new bridge is to be built in three stages and it is expected to be completed in two years' time.
HC officials expect a contract for construction work on the bridge to be signed by the end of this year.
