German low-cost airline Germanwings will mark ten years of its operation in Croatia this year by launching new flight services from Germany to Croatian destinations, and plans to increase the number of passengers by 15,000 to 435,000 compared to last year.
The company made this announcement at a press conference in Zagreb on Friday. It said it was pleased with the financial indicators for Croatia, but would not reveal them.
Germanwings, a daughter company of Lufthansa, currently operates 83 flights a week on 29 routes connecting Croatia and Germany. At the beginning of July it plans to introduce a direct service from Zagreb to Berlin, with flights four times a week. Flights will also be introduced from Berlin to Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka, Split and Zadar. Hamburg will also be connected with these destinations.
Passengers will be able to fly from Cologne to Split, Zagreb, Rijeka, Dubrovnik and Pula; from Stuttgart to Split, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Rijeka and Zadar; from Dortmund to Split; from Hannover to Dubrovnik and Split; and from Duesseldorf to Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Split and Zadar.
Over the last ten years Germanwings has transported 4 million passengers from Germany to Croatia and vice versa.
