Representatives of the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction organized a meeting in order to discuss the prevention of further pollution coming from the boat 'Vassillios T', which sunk in 1939 near the town of Komiža on the Island of Vis.

Activities to secure the site and to prevent further contamination of the sea will be carried out with the outmost caution considering the ongoing tourist season. The activities will be coordinated by the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development in cooperation with the other two ministries and the Split Port Authorities.

For the last 70 years, the wreck has been presiding at a depth of 50 to 60 meters. The first cracks on the boat were noticed on 25 June 2006, causing the appearance of a small amount of residual oil. Those cracks were fixed, and after a few days new ones appeared which was also taken care of. Based on a closer analysis it was concluded that the structure of the wrack has been disrupted and that it will have to be mended.
