Varaždin Beltway: Beginning of 2nd Construction Phase

The Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development Božidar Kalmeta attended yesterday afternoon the opening of the construction site for the finalization of the Varaždin beltway (hub Gojanec-Turčin).

The 1st part of the southwestern beltway, which is 4.5 km long, is already open for traffic and the 2nd part will be ready within two years. The construction costs in the amount of HRK 150 million will be covered by the company ‘Hrvatske ceste’, and the main contractors are the Varaždin companies ‘Cesta’ and ‘Zagorje-Tehnobeton’.

Minister Kalmeta attended also the opening of the construction works for the state route D2 from Varaždin to Dubrava Križovljanska near the Slovenian border. Certain activities have already begun and are being performed according to the ‘betterment’ program; those activities are also being financed by the company ‘Hrvatske ceste’. The total length of the passage amounts up to 23 km, 7.5 km of that passage will be finalized within this year. The contractor it’s the Varaždin company ‘Cesta’.

After visiting the construction site, Minister Kalmeta and his associates met with the Varaždin mayor Ivan Čehok as well as with the representatives of other cities in the Varaždin County, discussing various projects of infrastructure.
