The construction agreement for the full profile highway Rijeka - Zagreb is signed

Mr Zoran Klarić, chairman of the Autocesta Rijeka – Zagreb Company board of  managers, and mr Đuro Dekanović, the chairman of the Viadukt Company board of  managers, Mr Rade Pilipović, the general director of the Hidroelektra i niskogradnja Company, and Mr Željko Žderić, the chairman of the Konstruktor inženjering Company board of managers signed the Construction agreement for the building of the second phase in the Veliki Gložac tunnel and the Čardak tunnel, wich represents the opening of the second phase building the Rijeka – Zagreb highway, accompanied by Mr Božidar Kalmeta, minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development.

Mr Klarić, the director with Mr Petar Đukan, general director of the Structure Institute of Republic of Croatia, signed also the Framework addition about the specialized supervising services performing and adhesive quality regulation of the build-in materials and the second phase carried out building works of the highway Rijeka-Zagreb, approximately 11.5 million of Kuna.
 
Construction value of the second phase of the tunnel Veliki Gložac, 1.126 meters long, will be conducted by Bussines association Viadukt and Hidroelektra niskogradnja, for 95.34 million of Kuna, while the construction of the second phase of Čardak tunnel, 601 m long and for 88.9 million of Kuna, will be conducted by Konstruktor inženjering. After the completion of those objects that represents the second phase „A“ that is following also the second phase „B“, that implies converting the equities into the full profile highway trough the Gorski Kotar.

Mr Klarić announced that until the end of the year 2008 the full profile of the highway will be completed, also propounding that approximately 91 km of the full profile, and 146,5 km of the half profile of the highway is connecting Rijeka and Zagreb. The verdict of the constructing the full profile, as he banded, has been brought as a result of significant growth of transportation, of the incomes, and particularly due to the traffic security, regarding that fulfilled quantity of 14 thousands of vehicles per day at the semmy-highway particle represents major problem from the aspect of security. The number of the traffic accidents is three times bigger at the semmy-highway athwart the highway, mr Klarić admonished.

Mr Klarić with particular regard expressed his contentment due to the fact of financing the works trough the European investment bank for renovation and development loan, with no state warranty. Minister Kalmeta expressed his contentment because Croatian concessionaires won in international competition, what demonstrate that Croatian structure operative is able to bear with the foreign competition.

We expect to have operational 330 km of new highways, 250 km roadways, 950 km of existing and reconstructed roadways until the end of 2008, minister Kalmeta noticed and stressed that 32.5 billions of Kuna will be invested for construction and preservation of the public roadways in the forthcoming quadrennial period.
