Study on monitoring, control and information system for maritime traffic presented

A study on monitoring, control and information system for maritime traffic will help protect the sea and maritime safety, representatives of the Croatian Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and the Delegation of the European Commission to Croatia said presenting the study on Monday.

The ministry has launched the initiative to set up Croatia's monitoring system through the Maritime Safety twinning project so as to promote maritime safety and protect the sea from pollution, in accordance with the EU's acquis communautaire.

The project will be carried out with the EU's support through the PHARE 2005 programme, which was launched in January and is expected to last 16 months.

The project is worth EUR600,000, while the study cost EUR386,000. (Hina)
