In the County of Split-Dalmatia economy is slowly recovering, concluded the participants of today’s meeting of the County Chamber of Economy, held at Split. It was pointed out that during the last four years, 10 000 workers had found employment, that the number of new companies had increased from 6.200 to 7.300 and that the tourism industry was marking its max. growth rate in relation to the existing capacities.

An important topic discussed at the meeting was also the Split city port; it was concluded that it was necessary to construct, as soon as possible, an external berth for the accommodation of ships during tourist season in order to avoid jams.

The Split passenger port, which registered in 2005 the amount of 3.5 million passengers and 650 thousand vehicles, has reached its max. capacity so that the construction of external berths for ferries and cruisers would be a good solution for the upcoming tourist season as well as for a longer period of time until the realization of the planned development strategy.
