Port Ploče: First Quarter Profit - HRK 3.7 Million

The Port Ploče earned a net profit of HRK 3.7 million during the first three months of 2006, which is a 30.8% decrease as compared to the same period last year (according to official data).
 
The Port's total income, during the first quarter, mounted up to HRK 28.7 million, which is a 11.2%  decrease compared to the same period in 2004.
 
At the same time, there has been a decrease of total expenses by 7.4% during this year's first three months. Instead of last year's amount of HRK 26.9 million, the port registered this year expenses up to HRK 24.9 million.
 
Related to the Croatian Railways and the recently signed cooperation agreement on the 5th Pan-European railways corridor, the Port expects an increase of cargo trans-shipment up to 7 million tonnes per year.
 
The greatest expectations, related to an increase of cargo transport, will depend on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Port Ploče is mostly owned by the State, i.e. the Croatian Privatization Fund and other. Together they hold 61.2% of the company’s shares. The Port tly employs 831 workers.
