Port Gruž registered its one millionth passenger

Today the Port of Gruž registered its one millionth passenger who arrived at the port on the Jadrolinija boat 'Postira'. That special passenger is Antonija Matijašević from Dubrovnik and due to the happy occasion she received gifts from the representatives of the Port authority Dubrovnik.

By the end of the year the Port of Gruž expects the arrival of 1 050 000 passengers, i.e. a 13% increase as compared to 2007.

According to a statement given by the director of the Port authority Dubrovnik Vlaho Đurković, this year shows a drastic increase of passengers on international cruises, which shows an important development taking place in the area of cruise journeys.

Forecasts indicate that during the next five years the number of passengers and the general amount of transport in the Port of Gruž will increase by 10 - 15% per year. According to those predictions, in the year 2011 the port should register 1 205 000 passengers. In the end, we should remember the fact that in the year 1998 the same port has registered only 287 825 passengers in international and national transport.
