Parts of missing plane found off Dugi Otok Island

Parts of the missing plane were found in the sea south off the central Croatian island of Dugi Otok at about 0830 hrs Saturday.

The Lufthansa training plane with two people on board disappeared from radar screens at 1230 hrs Friday.
The pilot-instructor, a Croatian national, and a student, an Italian national, were on board of the Piper 44 plane.

As soon as the aircraft went off the radar screens, an intensive search was launched.

The search involving police, police vessels, Croatian Navy vessels and Croatian Air Force planes is going on, the Zadar police reported on Saturday morning.

The Piper 44 plane was one of nine training planes that the German company Lufthansa has stationed in Zadar.
