More traffic and better profit from toll payment

Last year, the Croatian motorways registered in the first nine months a total of 39.92 million vehicles. The profit from toll payment mounted up to HRK 1.24 billion. Those are the figures published by the Croatian association of toll motorways concessionaires (HUKA).

Most vehicles, 23.5 million, were registered by the company Croatian Motorways (HAC) with a toll payment income of HRK 772.85 million (plus by 37.5% over nine months in 2004).

The company Motorway Rijeka – Zagreb counted 9.47 million vehicles with a toll payment income of HRK 332.41 million, which is a plus by 18.2% as compared to the first three quarters in 2004.

During the first nine months in 2005, 3.94 million vehicles passed along the motorway Zagreb – Macelj (maintained by company Motorway Zagreb – Macelj) which resulted in an income of HRK 52.91 million.

At the same time the company Bina Istra counted over 3 million vehicles and an income of HRK 85.1 million, which is a plus by 24.6% as compared to 2004.

During the first nine months in 2005, 1603 accidents occurred along the Croatian motorways. In 35 accidents people were killed, 319 accidents resulted in injuries and 1249 accidents in material losses. The total number of killed people amounts up to 54. Most of them lost their lives on motorways under the maintenance of HAC, and three persons lost their lives on motorways controlled by Motorways Zagreb – Macelj. (Hina)
