Over the next ten months we should complete scaling down the number of employees in HZ subsidiary companies with severance packages not exceeding a gross HRK 200,000 per employee, said Minister Siniša Hajdaš Dončić, which will then be followed by increased investments and modernisation of the railway infrastructure.

Investment priorities will focus on international corridors which should receive significant financing from the European Union Regional Development Fund. This does not rule out investments into regional and local lines, he added.

HZ intends to modernise its rolling stock and intends to internationally advertise a public tender where local industries should seek their opportunities.

The domestic Gredelj - rolling stock company - has a good chance in this tender if it prepares itself well, Hajdaš Dončić said, using the example of a recent tender for Jadrolinija ferries which was awarded to domestic shipyards.

HZ intends to set up a new subsidiary for technical servicing and part of the employees recently laid off in Gredelj will be able to find employment there.
