In the presence of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković and Minister of the Economy and Sustainable Development Tomislav Ćorić, the TŽV Gredelj rolling stock factory and Austria's Innofreight company on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding on 10-year cooperation whereby the Zagreb-based factory can expect to be awarded deals worth two billion euros.

Over the period of the next 10 years, TŽV Gredelj will manufacture a thousand cargo wagons and 6,000 cargo containers annually for the Graz-headquartered company.

In order to carry out these orders, TŽV Gredelj should overhaul and streamline its production processes, for which an estimated 70 million euros is needed, and it should also employ more workers, TŽV Gredelj management board chair Ivan Petriček said.

Currently, there are 400 workers on the company's payroll and an additional 600 should be hired.

The memorandum signed today shows that the company will enter a period of stable business, he added.

In 2022, the company's revenues should be much higher than the €12 million earned in 2021, Petriček said.

In 2022, TŽV Gredelj has orders in the amount of €102 million.

Therefore, the company will need more workers, and it will have to import labour from neighbouring countries.

Petriček, a Slovak, came to the helm of the TŽV Gredelj management board at the start of this year. He is a co-owner of Tatrovagonka, the new owner of the Zagreb-based factory.
