Two memorandums on the financing of ISPA projects on the reconstruction of a railway and development of water supply and waste water management systems, worth around 111 million euros, were signed in the eastern town of Vinkovci on Monday.

The memorandums, which provide for the reconstruction of the railway line Vinkovci-Tovarnik-state border and a program for the development of water supply and waste water management systems in Karlovac, were signed by the state secretary at the Ministry of European Integration and Foreign Affairs, Marija Pejčinović Burić, and the head of the European Commission Delegation, Vincent Degert.

The two projects are the first Croatian projects to be financed with EU funds from the ISPA (Instrument for Structural Policies for Pre-Accession) program, said Pejčinović Burić, who is the national ISPA coordinator.

The railway reconstruction project is worth 75.6 million euros, with the EU providing 28.7 million and the Croatian government 46.9 million euros.

The program for the development of water supply and waste water management systems in Karlovac is worth 36 million euros, with the EU providing 22.5 million euros and the Croatian government 13.5 million, of which ten million will be a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
