Maritime and coastal transport registered 3.9 million passangers

During the first six months this year, the maritime and coastal transport registered 3.98 million passengers or an increase by 5.5% compared to last year. Most of the passengers (2.7 millions) traveled by ferry.

Within the same period the freight transport registered 14 million tonnes of cargo (down 7.1% over 2004), of which 12.6 million tonnes (approximately 90%) were transported  between foreign ports.

The rest of freight transport was divided amongst inland transport with 628 000 tonnes of cargo, import with 466 000 tonnes, export with 220 000 tonnes and transit with 94 000 tonnes.

Statistics show that via inland waterways, rivers, a transport of  452 000 tonnes of cargo (up14.1% over 2004) was accomplished.
In the first six months, sea ports registered 87 229 ships whish is a decrease of  5.7% compared to last year.
At the same time passenger traffic was increased in sea ports by 4.4% (total of  7.8 million passengers). Cargo traffic went up to the amount of 13.2 tonnes, 17.1 % of which consists of dangerous cargo.
