Italy Continues Probe into Crash of Small Croatian Plane

Italy"s Flight Safety Agency and the prosecutor"s office in Bergamo on Tuesday resumed an investigation into the crash of a small Croatian aircraft on Sunday evening in which three Croatian citizens were killed.

The plane LT 410, owned by the Croatian company Trade Air, was carrying post from Bergamo to Zagreb for the company DHL. All three people aboard, pilot Aleksandar Peičić, 50, his wife Tatjana Sešek, 50, and co-pilot Katja Popović, 35, were killed as the plane crashed minutes after the take-off.

The investigation has established that the plane was checked by the Italian Transport Safety Institute (ENAC) on October 24 and that safety requirement were in order. It has also been determined that the plane took off from the Bergamo airport without any problems.

Prosecutor Angelo Tibaldi and the Flight Safety Agency expect autopsy results tomorrow and an expert report on the possible causes of the crash.

It has also been reported that one of the two black boxes was quite damaged. The first concrete results of the probe are not expected soon. Such investigations usually last more than a month. (Hina)
