In July, Croatia's nautical ports registered an increase of arrivals

In July, the Croatian nautical ports registered a 7% increase of tourist arrivals and a 4% increase of tourist night stays, as compared to the same period last year. Those are the figures represented by the Central Bureau of Statistics.

To be precise, during the abovementioned month, those ports registered a total of 190 800 tourists and over 265 000 night stays. Foreign tourists represent 93.3% of the total number of tourists and 94% of the total number of night stays.

The precise number of foreign tourists in nautical ports, comes to 178 100 (up by 6% over July 2004), with 249 300 of foreign night stays (up by 3% over July 2004).

As compared to last year, the number of domestic guests increased by 28 % (12 700 arrivals), followed by an increase of night stays by 34% (15 700). Those ports registered 416 500 tourists arrivals (up by 2% over 2004), and 589 000 night stays (up by 1% over 2004) within seven months.

While foreign tourists returned to the nautical ports in nearly the same amount – 558 400 (up by 1%); the number of domestic tourist arrivals went up. The ports registered 24 700 domestic tourists (up by 23%) with 30 300 night stays (up by 29%).

Of all six Adriatic counties, only two of them registered lower results regarding tourist arrivals, as compared to last year – the Counties of Istrian and the County of Primorje – Gorski Kotar.

The best results, as compared to the first seven months of 2004, were registered in the nautical ports of the County of Šibenik – Knin: 136 000 arrivals (up by 10%) and 175 500 night stays (up by 13%).

The next best results were achieved in the nautical ports of the County of Zadar: 78 700 arrivals (up by 7%) and 98 400 night stays (up by 10%).

The nautical ports of the County of Split - Dalmatia hosted approximately 78 000 tourists (up by 4%) with 90 700 night stays (up by 4%). This year's decline in the nautical ports of Istria was caused by “only” 54 300 arrivals (down by 10%) and 94 300 night stays (down by 10%). Less tourists (37 100 arrivals) visited the ports of the County of Primorje – Gorski kotar, this caused a decrease of arrivals by 12% and a decrease of night stays by 10%.

Although the nautical ports of the County of Dubrovnik – Neretva registered 5% less arrivals (32 400), they were able to achieve an increase of night stays by 2% (52 800).
